Transport Canada Air Safety Campaign -
“Ready for Take-Off"
Transport Canada recently launched a three-year Air Safety Campaign
titled “Ready for Take-Off” (see references 1 & 2). This campaign, originally planned for 2020 was
delayed due to the pandemic, is to address the Transportation Safety Board’s
recommendation A19-02 from the TSB report A15H0001, which is to
“collaborate with industry associations to develop strategies, education
products, and tools to help air-taxi operators and their clients
eliminate the acceptance of unsafe practices.”
The campaign builds on the success of the General Aviation Safety
Campaign (GASC) with an integrated multi-year approach that includes:
·
Statistics-gathering
to support campaign objectives and effectiveness;
·
Facilitation
of seminars and participation at association events; and
·
Developing
safety promotion and education publications, as well as tools that support the
elimination of unsafe practices in the air taxi sector.
Although the campaign is aimed at air carriers operating under the
Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 703 and some activities related to the
Campaign may not apply to CAR 604 Business Aviation operations, the CBAA will
participate with other associations given some operational similarities between
CARs Part 7 and 604, and that some CBAA members also operate under Part 7.
Through active participation and engagement, the CBAA will support the
development of best practices, safety
promotion and awareness information that will serve the interest of our
members.
