Government Relations and Advocacy

Business aviation is vital to Canada’s economic interest and generates thousands of jobs across the country. Canada’s business aviation community plays a crucial role in providing support to small rural communities and helps businesses become more efficient and productive in a safe and secure environment. The CBAA is a voice to act on behalf of the business aviation industry representing our community’s needs and interests on a national and local level. CBAA actively pursues the issues surrounding business aviation nationally from Ottawa and locally through its numerous chapters across the country, acting as a lobbyist group, advocating for fair and equitable treatment for business aircraft.

TRANSPORT CANADA

The CBAA has been working in collaboration with Transport Canada since CBAA’s foundation in 1962, representing the interests of its members on a broad range of issues. The CBAA participates on numerous committees by monitoring and acting where necessary concerning government activity that may influence the efficiency of our community.

In late 1998, Transport Canada and CBAA embarked on a project that lead to CBAA being authorized to administer and manage Private Operations as defined by the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR) part 6, subpart 4. The project was implemented in January 2003. The changes, CBAA has also worked closely with Transport Canada to implement Safety Management Systems (SMS) within the Canadian business aviation industry. This has launched Canada as a world leader in SMS led by the CBAA.
